Dog Days of August
I haven’t had much motivation to write for my blog lately. I spent most of August trying to hold onto for dear life, the joy I felt meeting my friends Wendy & Tina in person on July 31st after only seeing them virtually for the last year and a half.
But as I attended the Self Care Society’s “ September Monthly Planning Session” this morning, I was inspired to turn one of their prompts into a blog post.
Oswald, here is your report for the month of August...
I want to celebrate:
Submitting my first draft and author bio for my chapter in "Authentic". And the fact that you brought your story to live over five pages which you've never done before.
You did so well with:
Increasing the percentage of clothing bin collections completed from June. The shout out during Thursday's call was a testament to the day to day effort that you put in.
I noticed that:
It hasn't been easy returning to a "normal" life. After being home for a year, being out in the world feels stressful. Slowly but surely, you're piecing together something resembling a social life.
You struggled with:
Finding something to be positive about. It's easy to fall into a sense of despair about the world. But you need to keep in mind, there's still good to be found in the world. Find the positive place, no matter how small it may be.
Next month, let's put some energy towards:
Envisioning the better life that you deserve. There's more to life than the present circumstances indicate. Even if it doesn't seem like it right now, you have the power to create it. You just need to find the motivation and stop the excuse making to get things done.
You expanded through:
Writing poems in different styles. Even if they're imperfect pieces, you tried to expand your repertoire with each piece that you've created.
Just a reminder that...
You have plenty to offer the world. Amid all the chaos and needing to be perfect at all times, you forget this fact. But don't forget, your light shines so bright that everyone else shines along too.
Lastly,
There’s four months left in this year. The days are going by quickly. It’s up to you to make each of them count. The dog days are over, the dog days are done!
